Platform Cooperativism Resource Library

Summary

This report explores how public policy can support platform cooperatives in specific locations. It argues that Covid, subsequent austerity, and the problems of the gig economy for workers have heightened the need for platform cooperatives. It then examines the overall state of the platform cooperative movement in US, India, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and the UK, followed by specific platform cooperatives building the movement, organizations in government and civil society driving favorable policy changes, key policy obstacles, and policy options. The report concludes with a list of policy options for consideration by policymakers worldwide.
