Summary
Martin Van Den Borre (Eva) at Who Owns the World Conference, convened by the Platform Cooperativism Consortium at The New School in November 2019. Martin is a speaker for the Owning Our Power: Young Lions of the Co-op Movement event.
About the event: We are proud to showcase a combination of some of the most inspiring projects that have recently launched, and others that have distinctly proven themselves over the past few years. We will hear about strategies for capitalization, franchisement of the co-op model, the encouragement and facilitation of democratic governance among distributed producers, collaboration with unions, technological innovations relying on blockchain, and revenue sharing in the community. In quick succession, presenters will offer you an overview of how they are collectively making cooperative interventions across a range of sectors. Learn from these pioneers.
Agricultural technologist by training, it is in the post-civil war context of El Salvador that Martin entered the world of the social economy. He has since been participating in several collective endeavors at the local and international level. He worked a dozen years as a cooperative developer where he demonstrated a keen interest for projects that ventured off the beaten paths. For the last 18 months, he has been leading C.I.T.I.E.S. a knowledge and innovation transfer center on the social economy that facilitates cross-pollination processes between the cities of Seoul, Barcelona, Puebla, and Montreal. At the WHO OWNS THE WORLD?, Martin will present the protocolary cooperative Eva.coop.
