Summary
Martijn Arets (Netherlands) at Who Owns the World Conference, convened by the Platform Cooperativism Consortium at The New School in November 2019. Martijn is a guest speaker for Global Movement Updates. We are proud to present an overview of activities in several countries. We will hear about successes and failures, too. In quick succession, presenters will offer you a global overview. We’ll go around the world in 90 minutes.
Martijn is an international expert and thinker in the field of emergence and development of the platform economy. Since 2012 years Martijn is traveling the world to (so far) talk to 500+ entrepreneurs, experts and other stakeholders in 16 countries behind the upcoming collaborative economy. To find out what is really happening, who the stakeholders are, what the main dilemmas are and to explore the conditions under which platforms can contribute to a more inclusive society. As a bridge builder and independent professional outsider, he uses these insights and this network to get stakeholders like platforms, trade unions, government, and incumbents together to address relevant issues in a constructive way. Martijn has a special interest in multi-stakeholder ownership and governance models like platform cooperatives and steward owned companies.
