Summary

The speaker argues that democratizing work means giving workers an equal voice – taking the knowledge they share just as seriously – regardless of their position. She discusses explorations into this issue, such as philosophical investigations into its effect on dignity, voice in other spheres, and neglected voices, as well as practical explorations into how individuals experience voice at work and how it might spill over into greater political participation. Finally, she points out the value of an equal voice – intrinsically, for human dignity and justice, and instrumentally, for making better-informed choices and creating learning organizations that can tackle societal challenges.
